Creating mutual value
Flinders Partners works with investors to develop new companies and offer opportunities to be part of the innovation stemming from Flinders University research. We take the philosophical view that the partnership between investors, researchers and Flinders Partners will jointly create the ultimate value of our new ventures.
One of the benefits in working with Flinders Partners is our flexibility around structuring and helping these companies to ensure they are best positioned to maximise the potential of the venture. This encompasses different investment structures, IP creation, and adding further opportunities to maximise the value.
Typically we start with a project and depending on its stage of development it may or may not have a CEO/entrepreneur. Where management is not in place – one of our team members provides that development resource until the project demands more attention (through investment, customers or early stage business planning).
Once we reach agreement on investment terms, we proceed with ensuring that the arrangement is fair for all, most importantly making sure all parties are properly motivated to jointly create value. We also look to grants and other incentives to maximise value to the company and its investors.
Investors in our ventures range from large to small, mostly with a strategic or vested interest in the project.
We do not claim to know which new ventures will be successful but we want to work with investors to create new companies so they can get a start.
